Software distribution according to the “software as a service” model is regarded as important contribution to deal with issues of developing and operating web applications.

It differentiates these maturity levels:

• Maturity Level 1: ad-hoc/customized application,
• Maturity Level 2: configurable application,
• Maturity Level 3: in addition multi-tenant efficiency and
• Maturity Level 4: in addition scalability.

ALI solutions are naturally suited for these types of distribution, as the ALI system is based on the automatic generation of web applications whose data are automatically transferred from one version to the next.

• Whether to operate an ALI solution according to maturity level 1 is up to the licensee.
• Each licensee can operate ALI solutions according to maturity level 2. The configuration options are considerable. In addition each customer can specify access to his solution by way of role-based access rights.
• Each licensee can operate ALI solutions according to maturity level 3. He can easily create variants of a solution and hold them ready independently.
• The ALI system does not aspire a maturity level 4, as it just addresses the needs of small and medium businesses. ALI solutions deal with large information volumes ergonomically. A synchronisation of independent ALI solutions can be supported upon licensees requests. Support of large numbers of users is not intended for the time being.
